A Christian Pathway

What will your next step be?

This question assumes that you are ready to take a step somewhere. Campbelltown Anglican Churches have put together a simple pathway to help you take your next step in the right direction. Jesus said, “This is eternal life: that they know you (God) and the One you have sent (Jesus Christ).” Eternal life, in one sense, begins and continues in the knowledge of God as communicated to us by Jesus Christ.

Each of the pathway stations described below leads to the next step. Choosing which place to begin is as simple as answering the self-diagnostic questions below…

Do you want to get to know the Anglican Church in Campbelltown better?

Getting to know the ministry staff, the regular events that occur in and around the church and the main objective or mission of the church is a great place to start. Whether you are new to the faith or simply new to this church, this is an excellent place to begin. ‘O Board’ is usually an evening event that runs several times throughout the year. Held in the church hall, supper is provided and some great information about the church and how to connect well within it. If you feel newish to this church and want to feel more a part of the community, start here. To find out when the next ‘On Board’ event is held and for more information, click here.

ExploringChristLOGO_CroppedDo you want to discover what Jesus really said and did?

‘Exploring Christ’ is a really special course that takes participants right back to the events of Jesus’ life. There are four sessions which go for about 90 minutes each. Usually these are run on a Sunday afternoon but occasionally are held on week nights. The course emphasises knowing the true God through the way he has communicated to us. For more information and to find out when the next course is being run, click here.

Do you want to move forward in your faith?

Following Jesus as your Lord and Saviour is what life is all about! ‘Firm Foundations’ is an eight week exploration for opening up several life changing things about being a disciple of Christ. This course is for new and old Christians alike. It unpacks eight amazing things that every Christian ought to know in order to start living and growing in Christ. Find out more here.

Growth GroupsDo you want to join a Growth Group and grow in maturity together with other Christians?

It makes sense. The bible not only loves community, it endorses and assumes that Christians will meet together in order to build one another up in the faith. Sure, Sunday services do this but meeting in smaller groups provides stronger relationships which are caring and perfect for coaching one another in walking faithfully with the LORD. It is all about coaching and caring. Growth Groups meet in homes and church meeting rooms throughout the week to pray together, read the bible and discuss how to live out and grow stronger in the Christian faith. Find out more about Growth Groups here.

Going Further

The above four steps in our Christian pathway are just the beginning – they are the bread and butter of moving forward in the Christian faith. There are plenty of ways to keep on growing and we provide many opportunities to learn more about God through His word. Campbelltown Anglican Churches run classes throughout the year with special focuses. We also offer private study material and ways for you to dig deeper into God’s word. At this point, it would be worth talking to one of our ministry staff about what is next for you. None of us ought to stand still for too long. Inquire today to work out how to keep on moving!

Ezekiel: Heart of Stone – Heart of Flesh

EZEKIEL 600x600Ezekiel is one of those rarely explored books of the bible. It’s a shame really since it contains some literally awesome imagery. The reader may get tired from chapter after chapter of doom and gloom, but it is worth sticking with it to listen to the amazing power of the gospel right here in this Old Testament treasure. For our middle series of 2015 we looked at all 48 chapters of this book – overviewing some sections and focusing in detail on others. It will take a miracle for the heart of man to be undivided toward our God. It will take radical surgery to remove our heart of stone and give us a heart of flesh.

Acts 1-8: Gospel Explosion – a sermon series in 2015

GospelExplosion_300x300_72dpi
From February 2015, we’ll be reading through the book of Acts chapters 1 to 8 in church and in our Growth Groups. This historic book describes the formation and growth of the Christian church from the first century A.D.

The book of Acts follows the account written by Luke of the resurrected Jesus who left his eleven eye-witnesses to tell everybody the good news that Jesus Christ is risen from the dead and he is LORD! The apostles started in Jerusalem where Jesus left them and they proceeded to do exactly what Jesus had commanded them: to take the gospel to the ends of the earth!

Summer Series 2014-15 – The 7 Letters to the 7 Churches in Revelation 2-3

It’s a mouthful of a series title! But what the seven churches in Revelation received from the Lord Jesus Christ was quite a mouthful too! Watch this 8 minute intro from our Senior Minister on how the letters in the final book of the bible are about Warming and Warning – the encouragement from Jesus to persevere and the reminder to repent and stay true to the faith of the one who has saved them.

The Word of God – All Scripture is God-Breathed

The Word of God

The Word of GodWe read the bible every week at our church services. We encourage every member of our church to be reading the bible as often as possible. We plan for a bible reading and a bible talk to occur at almost all of our events and activities organised by the church community. So why is it so important to us? Is it from God? Is it trustworthy? Are there other books just as important? How far should we go when applying it’s content to our lives? Does it have any significance for us today?

These are questions – and more – that we’ll be covering in our Sermon Series through November. As we lead into our Christmas season we ask – what is the word of God?

Park Central Adventure Race

Welcome to the Youth Group Sunday Special for Term 4- 2014!

You are about to embark on a sensational journey in and around park central.

For this challenging adventure you will need:

  • A smart phone with internet connectivity
  • Maps app
  • running shoes

Below there are 10 links. When you click on one,  you will be given a “pin drop” for somewhere in Park Central. You need to find that location and then locate a small container which will be hidden within a 15-20 meter radius from the dropped pin.

Token Containers look like this…

Once you locate one of these containers, open it, collect a token and then re-hide the container EXACTLY as you found it! Its very important that you re-hide the container exactly where you found it so that other groups are given the opportunity to enjoy finding it just like you!

Watch this video for a sneak peak at how a container is hidden and re-hidden

Within each container is a small token. You must collect all 10 tokens to claim victory of this epic adventure race! At the end of the race the first group to find Mark and show him all 10 tokens wins.

**HINT: This is a race and you are competing against the other teams for glory- so be sneaky and don’t show or tell other teams where the tokens are hidden!

Please remember that this is a public space and other people in our community are trying to enjoy their day just like you! So be good and look for opportunities to share the gospel with someone both in action and deed!

Good luck!

Does God Really…?

This short series held over the summer of 2013-14 covered some of the basic questions about God: does he really speak to us…does he really listen…does he really forgive and does he really heal? These questions ask more than whether God speaks, listens, forgives and heals but does he REALLY say anything to my world, does he REALLY listen to my problems, does he REALLY forgive the things that I have done – all of them, and does he REALLY heal – a healing that really works!

Check out the responses to these questions here…

End of 2013 Sermon Series: 2 Timothy – The Word and the Workers

2 Timothy Sermon Series - The Word and the Workers

2 Timothy - the Word and the WorkersCome and hear Rev Nigel Fortescue teach from 2 Timothy at each of our major church services. This sermon series will cover the four chapters of this second letter from Paul to Timothy – two great saints of the early church. Paul, the gospel warrior writes to Timothy, a timid Christian who is instructed to fan into flames, the mission of preaching and teaching the word of God.

Spring sermon series: John 8 to 13

The gospel of John - I am the resurrection and the life - that's what Jesus said - Spring sermon series 2013 Campbelltown Anglican Churches

John 8 to 13Across most of our church services, we will be hearing readings from the gospel according to John chapters 8 to 13 along with our ministry staff discussing major themes from this section of the bible.

John opens his gospel with the news that Jesus, who is God the one and only, has come to earth in the flesh to bring light into the world. John closes his gospel to explain that he wrote all that he did so that we might know and believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God and that by believing in him we can have eternal life. This makes the content of his book very profound.

If this eyewitness to all that Jesus said and did has written an account that we can trust, then we have every reason to believe that Jesus has some important things to teach us. Chapters 8 to 13 reveal some very remarkable claims that Jesus made of himself, such as: ‘I am the light of the world’, ‘I am the good shepherd’, ‘I am the resurrection and the life’, and most remarkably, ‘I am!’ – a claim to being God himself!

Join us each Sunday to hear his words for yourself.
